Three Years of Sun, Sweat, and Smiles: My Vancouver Sun Run Journey (2023–2025)
Participating in the Vancouver Sun Run has become one of the highlights of my year, and over the past three years—2023, 2024, and 2025—this event has meant more to me than just a run. It’s been a celebration of health, community, and personal growth, wrapped in the vibrant energy of Vancouver’s springtime.
In 2023, I took part in my very first Sun Run. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the moment I stepped into the buzzing crowd at the start line, I knew I was part of something special. The cheering, the live music, the sea of runners weaving through the downtown streets—it was exhilarating. Finishing the 10K that year gave me a deep sense of accomplishment and left me hungry for more.
2024 brought new goals and new personal bests. With one Sun Run under my belt, I trained harder and felt more confident. The weather was perfect, and the atmosphere even more electric than I remembered. I found myself smiling most of the way—not just from the runner’s high, but from seeing how the entire city came alive for this event. Friends, strangers, kids, seniors—everyone seemed to be moving together with one shared spirit.
This year, 2025, was especially memorable because I shared the experience with Jessica. While I ran the 10K, she participated in the 2.5K Mini Sun Run—her first time being part of the event. Watching her excitement at the starting line and pride as she crossed the finish was a joy I’ll never forget. We both proudly wore our medals afterward, already talking about doing it again next year.
The Sun Run has become more than a race for me. It’s a tradition, a time to connect with others, and a way to celebrate movement and resilience. I’m so grateful for the memories I’ve made these past three years—and I can’t wait to keep the streak going.
Here’s to many more runs and shared moments on the road ahead!
